Pests, IPM, and Local Policies for Public Health  

Course Description:  This course will cover the following topics: Vector-Borne Diseases of Public Health Importance in Iowa, Health Effects of Pesticides, Basic Pest ID, IPM Basics, Federal Rules/ Iowa Pesticide Applicator Licensing, and will conclude with a panel discussion on the policy of pest issues across Iowa.

If you are traveling:

From the East on I-235, take the 7th Street exit and follow 7th Street to Grand Avenue. Turn right (West) on Grand Avenue and continue past 10th Street.

From the West on I-235, take the Martin Luther King exit off Interstate 235, and turn Left onto Ingersoll. Continue along Ingersoll to 10th Street and turn south.

Parking near the Library: There are several 2-4hr parking meter spots on the streets adjacent to the library. There are also several parking ramps nearby.

 Free Parking at the Capitol Complex: Free parking is available on the Capitol Complex.  The D-Line Shuttle (also free) runs every 10 minutes along the route.  Park in any visitor lot near the Lucas State Office Building, and catch the shuttle on East 12th Street, in between the Lucas State Office Building and the Capitol.  For more information, visit the D-Line website:
