Accessibility and Meeting 508 Compliance with Program Materials

Category:

Monday, May 6, 2013 - 9:00am to 11:00am

Course Description and Learning Objectives:

•             Do you create program materials for the public, maintain a website, circulate a newsletter or present using PowerPoint at trainings or conferences?

•             Information dissemination is an important part of what we do at IDPH but we may be missing
some Iowans with disabilities because our materials are not in an accessible format.

•             You may have heard or read that program material must be 508 compliant but are confused
about what that means.

•             This training was developed to help you navigate through the expectations of 508
Compliance by creating accessible documents and program materials.

The two-hour interactive “how to” training using PowerPoint and handouts will provide:

  • Understanding the Rehabilitation Act of 1973
    • Section 508 – definition
    • Section 508 standards
    • Creating Compliant PowerPoint presentations
    • Creating Compliant Word Documents
    • Creating Compliant Adobe PDFs
    • Creating accessible websites
